Our dog Lucy was born in a puppy mill posing as a caring breeder. Lucy began showing signs that she was suffering from a very rare neurological disorder at about 4 months of age.  She will never recover from this disorder, and there is no treatment for her at this time.  I feel it is my responsibility to stop puppy mills so that other people do not have to suffer the pain of going through what we have with Lucy. We were the lucky ones because Lucy did survive, and is a happy dog despite her disorder.  Sadly, she will never be "normal" and we have no idea what the future holds for her. So that is why I am asking everyone to write a letter to your local Petlands (stores listed on this page) and tell them to STOP SELLING PUPPY MILL DOGS!  This is happening right here in the Metro, and all across the US. Many more dogs and people will suffer if we do not act to stop them.

We have a letter that you can print, sign, and mail to Petland to tell them you would like them to stop selling puppy mill dogs. (see attachments at the bottom of this page)

Thank you for reading this; education alone can prevent people from purchasing puppy mill dogs, and that can save their lives!

You can do your part to STOP puppy mills with very little effort....all you need to do is adopt a rescue dog from a local rescue group! Please refrain from purchasing dogs or cats from pet stores or mass breeders. Our stance is, why breed more dogs when 40-60,0000 dogs are euthanized every year in this country because there are not enough people to adopt them all. Puppy mill dogs often have health issues as well due to over breeding, or breeding bloodlines that are too closely related. Please do your part to save a life, and put these cruel puppy mills out of business by adopting a rescue dog!
