We are in need of puppy and dog foster homes! If you are interested in fostering or adopting please complete an application and we will be in touch with you soon! *If you are interested in adopting a Pet Project Rescue dog you must live within 60 miles of the Twin Cities Metro area. This is because we require a home visit, and also like to be available to our adoptive homes for follow-ups. Due to being a volunteer rescue, we are not always able to make long distance drives outside of the Metro area. This is a general rule, and we can make exceptions on rare occasions. LoisLois' BioLois is a 1 year old Poodle mix from Isla Mujeres, Mexico. She is 12 lbs and a very good girl. She does well with other dogs and is very playful. She really likes to be with her people and is a lap dog if you let her be. She is good with kids, but due to her small size it is best that she is with older kids. Lois is a smart dog and would excel in training classes. She would do best in a home with a fence, or with someone who is willing to go outside with her. She is housebroken and fully vetted. All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, micro-chipped, vaccinated, given de-wormer and a fecal test, Heartworm tested, Frontlined, and given HeartGard monthly before adopted out. If you are interested in applying to adopt Lois, please complete an Adoption Application. Or, you can Sponsor this animal. Her sister is Una, one of Pet Project Rescue first rescue dogs from Isla Mujeres. Dos is a mellow girl that likes to cuddle up with her people, and she does well with other dogs. Dos is fully housebroken and crate trained. She knows her basic commands and is a quick learner. Background: Dos came from our partner rescue on Isla Mujeres, Mexico. She came into rescue at 4 months of age. She was spayed and became ill right after the surgery. She most likely was suffering from mange, but has been treated and vet checked and has been very healthy for over a year now. She does have some scars on her face from the mange that now look like freckles. We hope that people can look past her physical scars and see what a wonderful and gentle dog Dos is. All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, micro-chipped, vaccinated, given de-wormer and a fecal test, Heartworm tested, Frontlined, and given HeartGard monthly before adopted out. She looks to be a Terrier, but with Rottweiler coloring. Miel is about 35 lbs and full grown. She loves people and does very well with dogs of all sizes. Miel would do great in an active home that enjoys the outdoors. Miel, like many dogs in Mexico, was tossed out on the street when she was about 6 months old. The dog catchers on Isla caught her playing on the beach and grabbed her. They tied her to the back of their truck and dragged her down the road. A local vet saw them and stopped them by pulling in front of their truck and took Miel. Her head and legs were cut, but she was in pretty good shape surprisingly. Miel continued to trust and love people even after what was done to her. Miel now has a second chance at a wonderful life in a forever home in MN. All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, micro-chipped, vaccinated, given de-wormer and a fecal test, Heartworm tested, Frontlined, and given HeartGard monthly before adopted out. If you are interested in applying to adopt Miel, please complete an Adoption Application. Or, you can Sponsor this animal. Kalita is great with all dogs and loves people, including children. She would be a great family dog. Kalita was rescued from the streets of Cancun. She was left to fend for herself on the streets when one of our partner rescues found her and took her in. She quickly became a favorite and when we met Kalita we knew we wanted to give her a second chance at a great life in MN. Due to health issues Pet Project Rescue has decided that it is in Asher's best interest to stay in his foster home permanently for the rest of his days. He had many expensive medical bills due to the neglect he suffered, but we are happy to know that after all Asher has been through the remainder of his life will be full of love and very comfy. If you would like to support Asher and Pet Project Rescue you can become a sponsor for Asher by clicking here. Background: Asher is about 8-10 years old and is a purebred Shih Tzu. He was rescued from a hoarding situation, and due to the neglect he has permanent health issues that are managed, but cannot be cured. He's gained much needed weight and to all our surprise is doing well on his housebreaking. He's had a very rough life, but like so many other wonderful rescue dogs, he can forgive people and give them love even after everything that has been done to him. He's a wonderful little guy that is now in a loving forever foster home. You can help Asher and Pet Project Rescue: Sponsor this animal. AlbertoAlberto's BioAlberto is 1.5 years old and 45 lbs. We rescued him from a local shelter that we work with in Cancun, Mexico and he looks to be a mix of a Bull Terrier and Lab, which are all very common breeds in the area he comes from. He is a mellow guy that loves time on the couch, but also does well on runs with his foster home. He also loves tummy rubs and to be wrapped up in a blanket next to you. He's a very handsome pup with an easygoing personality, but does well with a strong leader to show him the ropes.Alberto does best with dogs his size, but is too excited about cats to share a home with one. He would do well as a only dog or with a female dog. He is a quick learner and is currently learning his basic commands, like sit, watch me, back, and is starting training classes. All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, micro-chipped, vaccinated, given de-wormer and a fecal test, Heartworm tested, Frontlined, and given HeartGard monthly before adopted out. She is fearful of new people so she needs to be in a home with someone who is both dog savvy and a strong leader, so that she feels safe and secure in her environment. Paula is currently in one-on-one training with a professional dog trainer and is making great progress. She will need to continue with training in her foster or adoptive home. We are also able to help with training during the adjustment period when Paula is in a new home. Paula does very well with other playful dogs and is fine with cats.. Paula is also housebroken and crate trained. She is about a year and a half old, and about 33 lbs, and is a mixed breed. We think she is a Whippet/Lab mix, but because she is from Isla Mujeres, Mexico we can only guess according to the breeds found on the island. She loves attention and to cuddle with her people, once she knows them and is comfortable. She loves having a big comfy dog bed and dog bones to enjoy, and a fence to run around in. Paula is a sensitive and shy dog, and needs time to get used to new people and new environments as mentioned above. Because she is shy we feel that it is best that she be in a home without children. If you feel you have the dog experience needed to care for this special girl pleas apply to either foster or adopt on our site. All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, micro-chipped, vaccinated, given de-wormer and a fecal test, Heartworm tested, Frontlined, and given HeartGuard monthly before adopted out.
